While the Inuit have
a rich vocabulary for describing snow, here three little words
suffice: nice, good and deep! Nearly 300 cm (118 in.) of snow falls
on Québec City, with over twice as much in the mountains located
between 30 to 45 minutes from the downtown core. Although it would
be possible to have a good cross-country ski season with a third of
this snowfall, luckily, this is not the case! The trail grooming
teams at the ski resorts work hard to ensure excellent conditions,
with a helping hand from Mother Nature, who provides the snow!
Most cross-country ski resorts in the Greater Québec Area with a Web
site post updates of local ski conditions: snow quality, recommended
ski wax, amount of precipitation received or expected, accumulated
snowfall, number of trails open, local temperature and other
up-to-the-minute information.
What's more, detailed ski conditions are available from local media.
In Québec City, snow in all its glory is front-page news all winter
long!
